Angola: Government gives ok for the privatisation of EKA brewery
The government of Angola recently approved the privatisation of the public shares in the brewery EKA, with the perspective of contributing to the development and productive expansion of the company, Angola Press agency communicated on October 10.
Published in the first series of edition number 111 of the State Gazette, which Angop has had access to, the referred resolution outlines the concession of 46 % of the shares (previously held by Heineken) to the BIH group and the privatisation of 50 % for Angolan private entities.The State will remain with 4 % of the shares and may have the right to "golden shares".
This step has the goal to materialise the political strategy and the five-year Privatisation Programme, which were approved on 12 October 2001, by the Cabinet Council, having in view the modernisation of the national industry and entrepreneurial foment.
